Has spring fully sprung?

Having a mini-rantette about spring, or the lack thereof, seems to have done the trick. Temperatures have crept up at bit, struggling up to a comparatively tropical 9°C this afternoon, and a rarely-seen yellow orb has appeared in the sky. How long this state of affairs will last though, is anyone's guess...but people, other mammals, birds and plants are all happier.
Taking advantage of the nice weather I decided to go out with the camera. I'd not managed to take any photos with the 6D in sunshine, so I decided to go to Fishbourne and pick off a couple of the Wightlink ferries as they are easy photographic targets.

Whatever one may think of the cross-Solent ferry companies (and they're not perfect, far from it), the Solent crossing is one of the things that makes living here attractive. If a bridge or tunnel was ever built - and it's highly unlikely, no matter what the usual one or two shrill trolls in the County Press web site comments sections may say, simply because of logistics - it would ruin the whole character of the island and turn it into another suburb of Southampton or Portsmouth. Yes, it's expensive and it would be nice if it was cheaper to take a car across (and I think the Government could and should help out with a subsidy, if they can for the Scots why not us?) but I'd rather have the ferries than a fixed link.

Out in the Solent, the car carrier Taipan (a highly venomous species of Australasian snake, I believe) was on her way in to Southampton

The dogs were happy the sun was finally out. They're very elderly long-haired dachshunds, one standard, the other miniature.
